Smooth Jazz & Lounge

History and origins

Smooth jazz combines jazz elements with accessible melodies and polished production, drawing on soul, pop and rhythm and blues. Lounge is a broader term for atmospheric music that can include jazz, downtempo and gentle electronic sounds.

Musical characteristics

Saxophone, guitar, piano and keyboards blend with flowing rhythms. In lounge music, sonic space and a sense of calm can matter as much as melody.

A world to discover
